What is a Maternity Leave Policy?

The policy details the entitlement to 52 weeks Maternity Leave of which the first 26 weeks is Ordinary Maternity Leave (OML) and the second 26 weeks is Additional Maternity Leave (AML). Where AML is taken, the rights on returning to work differ, that is, if it is not reasonably practicable for the employee to return into the same position, another suitable and appropriate job may be given on terms and conditions that are not less favourable.
