Modern slavery is the illegal exploitation of people for personal or commercial gain. It is an umbrella term covering a wide range of abuse and exploitation including sexual exploitation, domestic servitude, forced labour, criminal exploitation and organ harvesting.

Why is a Modern Slavery Statement important?

Although SMEs with less than £36m annual turnover are not required to publish a statement setting out the steps they take to prevent modern slavery in their business and supply chains. It is seen as good practice and maybe expected by your customers and wider stakeholders.
